The James Hardie Assistant Plant Controller is a key member of the plant finance and manufacturing teams.
As a member of this team, you will partner with the Plant Controller to ensure a high level of compliance to GAAP, SOX, and company policies.
You will also be a business partner to the plant management team, helping the plant to achieve their over-arching business goals while identifying areas of risk and inefficiency and be proactive in developing and implementing appropriate measures to reduce these.
You will partner with your peers in our other manufacturing sites and central locations to leverage best practices and help build a consistent and reliable control environment.

As an Assistant Plant Controller, you will manage the core accounting functions within your manufacturing plant, including month-end closes and finance initiatives.
You will be on site in our manufacturing facility where our products are made and benefit from being close to the assets and processes that comprise your core responsibilities.
Being a strong and active communicator both within and outside the plant will create opportunities for you to share your ideas and solve issues as they arise.
Position Responsibilities
- Drive accounting processes and process improvements within the plant to ensure accurate books and records and compliance to key control requirements including Sarbanes Oxley.
- Lead month end close process for the plant to ensure accurate and timely statement of the balance sheet and P&L.
- Identify, lead and implement process improvements in both the Financial and Accounting parts of our business with the appropriate involvement of plant, interplant, and central accounting partners.
- Work cross-functionally with central accounting to lead control and efficiency initiatives resulting in a better control environment that is easier to monitor.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and subject matter expertise for your area of responsibility.
- Partner with the plant management team to provide financial and operational leadership to drive the strategic direction of the plant and deliver plant objectives.
- Provide Manufacturing and Plant leadership with financial reporting and analysis to support plant operations and financial objectives.
Requirements
- BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Six or more years Accouting experience
- 3
years of standard Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing setting - Demonstrated experience with ERP systems software (SAP Preferred)
- Three or more years of working with a manufacturing company, where standard costing systems are utilized
- General accounting knowledge in both GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley, strong Microsoft Office capability and proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in process improvements & cost savings plans
- Strong organizational and communications skills with demonstrated ability to convey ideas to a diverse audience (Finance and Operational Partners)
- Daily presence in Plant City plant staarting at 7am ET
- Ability to work more the 40 hours per week especially during month end close

.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
